Kristen Ronning is a horn player currently based in Iowa City, IA, where she is pursuing her D.M.A at the University of Iowa. In addition to serving as a Teaching Assistant at UI, Kristen balances an active career of teaching and performing throughout the Midwest.
Kristen has performed with various orchestras across the Midwest, including the Quad City Symphony, Muscatine Symphony Orchestra, Adrian Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, she has been featured with the Wheaton Municipal Band and Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra. Beyond Western Classical playing, Kristen has performed backing popular acts such as Mannheim Steamroller and the Texas Tenors.
Outside of performing, Kristen maintains a vibrant teaching studio throughout Eastern Iowa. She is the Horn Teaching Artist at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA and a Private Horn Instructor through the Quad City Symphony's Private Lesson Program.
Prior to moving to Iowa, Kristen received her B.M in Horn Performance from Bowling Green State University and her M.M in Orchestral Studies from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where she studied with Dr. Andrew Pelletier and Jon Boen, respectively.
