Scholarships

At Drake, we offer financial aid that is designed to reward your academic achievement and also to help meet your family’s level of financial need. You may find that you qualify for both merit-based and financial need-based awards. We make every effort to provide the most complete financial aid package to you in your first award notice. 

Please visit our Financial Aid Office for all your general scholarship inquiries. The Financial Aid Office also provides a summary of tuition and fees for all Drake programs.  


Nursing Scholarship Opportunities

Students who begin at Drake directly from high school, in the pre-nursing track of the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree, and matriculate into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program in their fourth year, will retain their undergraduate scholarships and merit aid.

Additional scholarships are available for students in the ABSN program from a variety of state, federal and non-profit agencies.  The following is a list of scholarships that students are encouraged to look into.

Tutor the People The scholarship asks students to submit an essay that illustrates how an MD degree will help them achieve their life goals. We will award a $1,000 prize to the winning submission, which will be made payable to that student's current university or future medical school.
The mission of Tutor the People is to provide our pre-med students with top-scoring and experienced MCAT tutors who deliver a holistic preparation experience at a fraction of the price of our competitors. Travel Funding/Awards

The following scholarship deadlines are updated on an annual basis.
These awards can be used for travel expenses with the stipulations provided

The Walbridge Medical
Mission Trip Travel Award

The Walbridge Medical Mission/International Community Service Trip Travel Award is supported by Mary Walbridge, PH'74, and exemplifies her commitment to community service and medical missions, higher education, as well as to future generations of Drake pharmacy students.

Criteria for Receiving the Travel Award:

1)  Travel on a medical mission or international community service trip for which academic credit is not being received.
2)  Able to obtain a receipt for travel expenses incurred.
3)  Approval of National Meeting/Travel Form (see www.drake.edu/cphs/forms)
4)  Upon approval and completion of trip, completion of the travel reimbursement form (information sent following submission of the National Meeting/Travel Form).

The amount of the award is expected to be approximately $500, depending on the number of individuals requesting travel support.
