Pre-OT FAQ

Drake's Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program expects to enter an O1 class of approximately 46 students each year.  As the OTD program continues to develop, we intend to keep the class sizes around 46 students in order to maintain the close mentoring relationships between students and faculty that make our program unique.  We intend to enroll a similar number of pre-OT students.  Due to the preparation that these students will receive in their undergraduate education through the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree, we expect these students to be very competitive when they apply to the OTD program. 

Students who complete their Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree and the pre-OT track have full consideration for admission into the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program.  Pre-OT students will have access to academic advisers who are faculty that teach in the professional OTD program.  The mentoring that these students will receive, along with opportunities for shadowing in an OT environment, career exploration, and opportunities to become involved in professional student organizations, will help prepare pre-OT students for the admission process and success in the OTD program.  Pre-OT students are not required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for admission into the OTD program.
