The department can connect students with a variety ofinternship opportunities, including local interfaith organizations such as the Des Moines Religious Council and Interfaith Alliance of Iowa. Please contact the department chair for more details.

Department faculty lead travel seminars to India, South Africa, the Middle East, and China. Students can participate during J-term and some May term courses.
Students can participate as counselors during a one week camp every summer with local high school students from a variety of religious traditions as they create digital stories and interact with religious traditions in the region.
Students have opportunities to work directly with faculty on individual projects, publications, capstone projects, and language study.
