Scholarships and other forms of financial aid are available to students completing the master of science in special education program.
The Harley M. and Zoe Rummel Memorial Scholarship is offered annually to students pursuing a master of science in special education degree from Drake. To be eligible a student must be formally admitted into the degree program with the intention to teach special education in Iowa, with an emphasis on education for children with disabilities.
Approximately six students receive the scholarship each year. Awards will be made without regard for the number of credit hours in which a student is enrolled. Funding can be applied to summer, fall or spring semesters.
Individuals who teach full time for five consecutive academic years in certain elementary and secondary schools may be eligible for loan forgiveness through the Stafford Loan Forgiveness Program for Teachers. Schools must serve low-income families and meet other qualifications.
