Working Worldwide: Kosovo

Drake University's Working Worldwide: Kosovo program offers recent graduates the opportunity to work in Kosovo for a year at a select partner institution.

Working Worldwide: Kosovo utilizes the experiences of each participant to pair them with a placement organization that will allow for meaningful cross-cultural work between participants and their place of employment. With positions spanning multiple industries, Working Worldwide: Kosovo has opportunities available that will equip you with the skills to become a competitive, globally-connected professional. 

Program Details

  • Participants are placed with a select partner institution, facilitated in partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo. Specific positions for 2023-2024 will be determined once applicants are accepted to the program. 
    • Positions are determined based on applicants' skills and interests, as well as interested and available organizations. 
  • Positions are paid, with each participant receiving a monthly salary. See here.

Working Worldwide: Kosovo is one piece of a larger state-to-state relationship between Kosovo and Iowa. Drake is one of several higher education institutions in Iowa working with Kosovar partners, along with other sectors such as agriculture, private business, youth athletics, and even law enforcement. 

Kosovo is a small country in the Balkan region of Eastern Europe. It is a very young nation, having established independence from Serbia in 2008. Kosovo is land-locked, mountainous country that shares borders with Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, and Macedonia. The capital of Kosovo, Prishtina, is a vibrant city offering many opportunities for all interest areas. Additionally, Kosovo is a young country demographically with 42% of the population below the age of 25.
