Kent Haochuan Hu, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Accounting

Dr. Kent Hu is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Drake University. He holds a Bachelor of Management in Accounting from Sichuan University, China, and a Master of Business Administration and Accountancy from Oregon State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration in Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 2021. His research interests include voluntary disclosures, sentiment analysis, international accounting, and governmental accounting. He has published in the Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance and the Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting, & Financial Management. He is a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA). He teaches courses in financial accounting and managerial accounting.

Before his academic career, Kent worked at China Merchants Bank as a Corporate Account Manager for three years. He also worked in public accounting (tax), restaurant, and consulting industries.
