The College of Arts and Sciences offers financial support for you to pursue significant research or travel opportunities beyond the scope of your curricular activities.
Applications for STAR Funds are accepted on a rolling basis, and should generally be submitted at least one month prior to the first date of travel. These funds are reserved for special and significant opportunities that are not part of the regular ongoing academic programming at Drake.
Fine Arts students majoring in art, music, or theatre are eligible to apply for Friends of Drake Arts STAR funds to support special and significant opportunities that are not part of the regular on-going academic programming at Drake.
The Jon N. Torgerson Scholarship Fund is designed to assist a Humanities major with demonstrated need to participate in a Drake-sponsored international travel seminar. To be eligible, the applicant must be majoring in an area of the Humanities, have at least a 2.0 GPA, and plan to enroll in a Drake-sponsored international study seminar.
The A&S Dean’s Emergency Fund was created with the generous support of the National Alumni Council to help students with financial assistance in a serious time of need. This fund is intended to be a supplemental financial resource when students are unable to meet immediate and essential expenses directly related to their education. Examples of qualifying needs include, but are not limited to textbooks, supplies, instruments, or equipment required for your Drake courses.
The Iowa Space Grant Consortium provides research and experiential opportunities for undergraduate students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines.
These funds are reserved for special and significant opportunities that are not part of the regular on-going academic programming at Drake. These opportunities are for music students and ensembles attending and/or performing at music festivals, conferences, competitions, study or tours.
This travel stipend supports science students within the College of Arts & Sciences who are participating in international research/internships or study abroad. Award recipients will be selected by a committee of science department chairs.
Award Amount: Maximum of $3000 per student, 2-4 students awarded each year
