The Jon N. Torgerson Scholarship Fund is designed to assist an Arts and Sciences student - first preference to a Humanities major - with demonstrated need to participate in a Drake-sponsored international travel seminar or study abraod program. To be eligible, the applicant must have at least a 2.0 GPA, declare a major in the College of Arts and Sciences (Humanities majors considered first) and plan to enroll in a Drake-sponsored international study seminar.
The award is need-based, as determined by the Financial Aid Office from the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The award is applicable only to international study courses outside the 50 U.S. states and American Territories. The recipient must agree to attend the Arts & Sciences Honors Convocation, where the scholarship will be awarded. This scholarship is provided by a generous gift from the Jon N. Torgerson family. The Torgerson Award Application must be sent to the Dean by October 25th of each year.
