Phi Beta Kappa selects top students who have demonstrated a commitment to both broad and deep learning.
There is no application process for Phi Beta Kappa. Students are selected by a committee made up of Drake faculty and staff who are also Phi Beta Kappa members. Every spring semester, the selection committee reviews transcripts of seniors and recent graduates who meet established quantitative standards. Selection committee members individually assess and discuss each transcript to determine whether the student has also met qualitative standards related to the depth and breadth of their study and knowledge of a foreign language.
Drake's process applies the membership eligibility stipulations established by the national society.
