Professional and Career Development Services Support

The spring semester is nearing an end and your student(s) are most likely turning their thoughts to summer.  Professional and Career Development Services has resources that offer options for your students as they seek internship opportunities.

Micro-internships through Parker Dewey

Drake University Professional & Career Development Services office has a partnership with Parker Dewey, a company that facilitates micro-internship with employers across the country. Micro-internships are short-term, professional, paid work experiences, many of which can be completed remotely. Micro-Internships allow your student(s) to demonstrate skills while working on professional projects with employers in a wide range of industries. These paid opportunities range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and students can be selected for multiple Micro-Internships.

New Micro-Internship opportunities are being posted daily.  If your students is interested, here’s how to get started:

  • Create an account at https://info.parkerdewey.com/drake
  • Fill out a profile as completely as possible. Students with complete profiles are more likely to be selected.
  • Upload a resume, a link to a LinkedIn profile and samples of work completed.
  • The application process involves completing one or more short-answer questions.  These questions are the interview.  Answer each question thoroughly and be sure to check and fix spelling and grammar errors.
  • Review current micro-internship projects available
  • Apply to projects of interest
  • Continue to check the platform regularly for new opportunities.  The most successful students log into the platform frequently to see what is new and apply to projects that interest them.
