Important Residence Hall Move Out Information
Hall Closing Information and Expectations will be posted at the beginning of May in the halls on the resident floors and in the main hall lobby. The information below is several key points of knowledge.
End of the academic year hall closing dates and times:
Carpenter, Crawford, Herriott, Stalnaker Halls (first-year halls - Friday, May 17, at 5:00 pm.
Goodwin-Kirk, and Jewett (upper-class halls) - Sunday, May 19, at 12:00 pm.
Summer Hall Opens: Friday, May 17, 2024, at 5:00 pm. Contact the Office of Events for more information at: (campsandconfereneces@drake.edu)
Additional Move Out Information: 30th Street and Forest Ave will have limited access on Thursday May 16th, Friday May 17th and Saturday May 18th. Des Moines Police and Drake Public Safety will have the intersection of 30th St. and Forest Ave through 25th St. and Forest Ave blocked off for through traffic due to the State Track and Field event.
Please make sure that if you are planning to move out of the Quads Halls (Stalnaker, Crawford, Carpenter, and Herriott) on any of these days, that you communicate with your student to get a copy of the approved vehicle dashboard sign. This sign will need to be completed with the requested information and place it on the passenger side dashboard so that Police Officers directing traffic can view it. Without this signage, the ability to pull up near the residence hall would not be possible on these dates. Students will be provided the link to these signs no later than May 10. We request that students and families limit curbside parking for the loading of vehicles to a 30-minute time frame. Additionally, we encourage individuals to lock their vehicle(s) when not present.
If you, and any guests here to assist in move-out, do not have this dashboard sign, Des Moines Police will not allow you access to Forrest Avenue to load.
Please note: Due to limited spacing for loading, you will be limited to 30 minutes per vehicle. We encourage residents to have their rooms packed and ready for loading prior to your arrival at campus. Park your vehicle in the appropriate parking lot(s) when not actively loading the vehicle.
