Important Residence Hall Reminders
All residence halls CLOSE for the Winter Break on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 12:00pm-noon
- Hall Closing Information and Expectations will be posted at the beginning of December in the halls.
- Once the halls close, students will not be able to get back into their hall until the hall officially reopens. Students should remember to take important belongings (wallets, purse, checkbook, medications, passports, athletic uniforms/equipment etc.) when they leave.
- Students who are returning to the same room of assignment for the Spring semester - do not need to completely move out.
- Residents will need to return their room key upon their departure from their residence hall for Fall semester. The key return process will be communicated at the beginning of December with the hall closing information. Residents who do not return their room key at hall closing - will be assessed a $50.00 lock change fee and the lock will be changed over the Winter Break. Residents will check back out their room key upon their return for Spring semester.
- All mail/packages will be held during the Winter Break by the service provider that the item was sent through or at the Drake Postal Operations Center. Students will be able to retrieve their mail/packages received during the Winter Break upon their return to campus during the Postal Operations service hours.
All First-year halls will OPEN for the Spring semester on Saturday, January 25, 2025. at 12:00pm

Jewett Hall will be open for the Winter Break and January Term for camps and conferences
- Jewett Hall Residents will NOT have access to their school year room. They should take all the items needed with them before the break period begins.
- Students seeking housing during this period may request temporary housing by contacting (campsandconferences@drake.edu) for more information.
- Housing is limited and on a first come-first serve basis.
- There will be a $33.00 per day housing fee billed to the student account.
- There will be no campus dining service - December 14 - January 6
- There will be no meal plan offered for j-term period (January 6 - 25), but students can self-pay for each meal at Hubbell.
Residents of Goodwin Kirk and Herriott who are not enrolled in a Jterm course CANNOT stay in their school year room, they will need to request housing in Jewett Hall or identify another off-campus housing option during this period. They can return on January 25, at 12:00pm to move into the school year room.
