There are so many ways to get involved in the local community while a student at Drake! Options range from mentoring local youth, to stocking shelves at food pantries, to delivering excess food to local shelters. Students can search for opportunities on DUgood, Drake’s community engagement platform. Once they’ve volunteered, students can “add impact” on the platform, and at the end of the semester they can download a transcript of all the service they’ve done that semester or year. This comes in handy when putting together resumes, essays, and preparing for interviews. Volunteering can help students build valuable True Blue Skills like communication, personal responsibility, and problem solving. We’re happy to meet with students to help get them connected to the community! Contact servicelearning@drake.edu.
