Academic Care Team

Encourage your student to connect with their Academic Care Team! 

The first few weeks of the semester are a great time for students to (re)connect with their Academic Care Team (their "A-team"). This team includes their Advising Specialist, Faculty Mentor, and Career Coach. Send an email; schedule an appointment; stop by their office; attend a career event! Students can make an introduction, ask questions, catch up after summer, share goals for fall semester, start networking, and get career ready!  

Student’s Advising Specialist and Faculty Mentor assignments are viewable in their Starfish My Support Network under Your Connections. Career Coaches are listed for each college/school under Your Services. Appointments with all members of a student's A-team can be scheduled in Starfish.  

Academic Advising Expectations 

Drake utilizes a blended advising model, assigning both an Advising Specialist and a Faculty Mentor to students.* This provides students a strong foundation of advising support but also requires that they do their part! 

*Juniors and seniors should contact their Faculty Advisors and/or their college/school dean's office for advising and support.
