Drake University Parent and Family Advisory Council
Drake University Parent and Family Council Mission:
Facilitate the partnership between families, Drake University faculty, staff, and administrators in order to enhance the educational and life experiences of Drake students. The Parent and Family Advisory Council’s role is to serve as a liaison between families and Drake University in supporting and upholding the mission of the University and its students.
Parent and Family Council Purpose:
- Foster relationships between families and Drake University
- Serve as ambassadors for Drake University among other Drake families, prospective Drake students and their families
- Promote and participate in Drake University volunteer opportunities
- Share observations, suggestions or concerns about Drake programs and campus life
- Recommend content for publications and family communication
Parent and Family Council Expectations:
- Attend two on campus meetings each year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring
- Fall meeting takes place Friday afternoon of Family Weekend
- Spring meeting takes place Friday afternoon for Drake Relays
- Participate in events hosted by the Parent and Family Advisory Council during Family Weekend
- Must participate in one of the following:
- Attend an Admitted Student Reception (if regionally appropriate)
- Assist with on campus Admissions Event
- Assist with one Summer Orientation session
- Represent PFAC on Family Facebook groups for families of incoming Drake students to interact with group and help answer questions
- Respond to communication from the Director of New Student and Family Programs
