Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience.

We offer intellectually challenging and stimulating programs of study in psychology and neuroscience that prepare you for diverse careers related to these fields. I would like to highlight some features of our programs:

• As a student in our program, you will have the opportunity to work with Ph.D. faculty who represent main areas of specialization in the field, including clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, biological psychology, behavioral neuroscience, social psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, developmental psychology, and behavior analysis.
• As part of the natural sciences division of the College of Arts and Sciences, our academic programs have a strong scientific emphasis. Your preparation for entry into our programs should include a solid foundation in mathematics and the sciences.
• Our faculty is large enough to cover the diversity of contemporary psychology and neuroscience, and our classes are small enough to get to know you. Most classes enroll 20-40 students, and all majors are encouraged to enroll in small (3-7 student) seminar classes.
• Our programs are focused on the undergraduate. Your advanced laboratories are taught by professors, not graduate students. You have the opportunity to engage in scholarly research projects with faculty that can result in professional presentations and publications. You have a faculty advisor in your major to assist in curricular and career guidance.
