Transfer Majors
Transfer Majors
Drake honors a dozen transfer majors from Iowa community colleges, guaranteeing that your hard work in your associate’s degree will transfer meaningfully to your bachelor’s degree.
Designed to provide students a clear pathway to the final two years of their bachelor’s degree, transfer majors were developed by the Iowa Department of Education as a partnership between Iowa community colleges and participating 4-year institutions.
A transfer major works by establishing a framework that allows community colleges to provide a structured set of courses to satisfy general education requirements in aligned bachelor’s degree programs. These transfer majors can lead to a wide variety of bachelor’s degree options – for instance, a Business transfer major works well for popular majors such as Accounting, Finance, and Marketing.
Each transfer major consists of a minimum of 18 core semester hours that align with bachelor’s degree requirements and also fulfill requirements within an associate of arts (A.A.) or associate of science (A.S.) degree.
